Hi, I'm Doreen Moonen. Married and mother of 2 sons and 1 daughter. I work 3 days a week managing a team of teachers in primary school.
I’m from the generation in which handicraft lessons were given in primary school. As a kid it was my favorite thing to do. Being creative has always been a form of relaxation for me. Whether it was crafts, drawing, embroidery, crochet or knitting. When I was 12 years old I knitted my first sweater and spencer. I was super proud. I managed this with the help of my grandmother. Besides her name (Doortje) my love for crochet and knitting I also got from her.
For a long time afterwards I didn’t do any crafting. About 9 years ago I started again because I was making hair clips and hair bows with crocheted flowers on top. I sold these for a good cause. At that time I was jealous of everyone who made blankets and scarves. I couldn't imagine ever having the patience for that. Well, right now these are my favorite projects to make.
When I rediscovered crochet, I also started my Instagram account (@by_door1). I’ve made many many projects. First I worked lots from patterns. Later I started to make things my own and that's how my first designs arose.
