As a way to practice fine motor skills, Emilia (also known on Instagram as @coffeeandcrocheting) started to crochet after joining medical school. Quickly this hobby turned in to a job on the side after she had designed her first own garment. What she likes most about designing? Combining crochet, creativity, problem-solving and math.
Emilia is a 30-year-old Scandinavian designer who loves minimalism and simplicity but isn’t afraid to mix it up with colors and patterns. She has designed for Yarn and Colors before, when she won the Baby Fabulous Contest. This time we asked her to help us out with making a complete lookbook with crocheted garments only – her specialty - using different yarns from our brand.
Emilia says herself: “my idea behind this lookbook was designing garments that you feel nice, pretty and comfortable in at home (since we all are at home quite a lot this year), but still pretty enough to also wear outside taking a walk, strolling in a park, meeting a friend for coffee or brunch or hanging by the campfire.
The names of the garments are different times/occasions of the day and ideas on when to use it. They represent everyday occasions but are also named after more fun/special occasions like a brunch or having afternoon tea.
The garments are made to look as different to each other as possible but still have my minimalistic Scandinavian style mixed up with color and fun elements. The idea is for everyone to find their favourite but also give them an option to make them all because they are similar but match at the same time.
