Must-Have Mini CAL - Cherries
Will you make the cherry on the pie? This pattern includes instructions for a single and a double cherry. Using 034 Deep Cerise of course!
You’ve probably been there: it’s better not to crochet some things, so we cheated a little for the best result and used a dark brown marker to color the stem of the single cherry. Don’t tell! ??
The only thing we can’t fake is the beautiful shine. It’s up to you to add that, right..?
The hint for next week’s fruit is: get your lemonade ready..
Have fun with the cherries for now!
Love, Manon

Cherries
Colors: 034 Deep Cerise, 082 Grass and 006 Taupe. Optional: a dark brown marker.
Cherry
Make a mr using 034 and sc 6 in the mr.
Round 1: *sc 2 in every st* x 6 (12)
Round 2: sc 12 around
Bring the cast on tail to the outside through the middle of the mr – to the right side of your work.
Round 3: *sc 1, sc 2 in next st* x 6 (18)
Round 4: sc 18 around
Round 5: *sc 1, sc2tog* x 6 (12)
Round 6: sc2tog around (6)
Fasten off and cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.
Baste the yarn through all sts (6) of the last round and pull tight.
Pull the yarn downwards through the cherry, pull tight and tie a knot with the cast on tail. This will create a little ‘indent’ at the top. Weave the two ends in.
Squeeze the cherry to flatten it a little, so that it looks just like a real cherry.
Double stem
Ch 21 using 082, fasten off and tie both ends to the top of a cherry.
Ch 3 using 006, sl st 1 in every st, starting in 2nd ch from hook (2), fasten off and tie to the middle stitch (11th st) of the stem.
Weave in all ends.
Single stem
Ch 9 using 082.
Sl st 1 in 2nd ch from hook, sl st 1 in next st. This will create a little bump at the top.
Fasten off and tie the end on top of a cherry.
Weave in all ends.
Use a dark brown marker to color the bump on top if desired.
Leaf
Ch 9 using 082.
Work around the foundation chain in the front loops.
Sl st 1 in 2nd ch from hook, sc 1, hdc 1, dc 1 2x, hdc 1, sc 1, sl st 1.
Work along the other side of the foundation chain,
Sl st 1, sc 1, hdc 1, dc 1 2x, hdc 1, sc 1, sl st 1. Join with a sl st on top of the ch.
Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Attach the leaf to the stem of the cherry, right under the bump.
Use a 2 mm, 2.5 mm, and a 3 mm hook for the cherries for a slight difference in size. Change the length of the stems and make cherries with or without a leaf. Just like in nature!
You can use up colors 030 Red Wine and 083 Peridot, we won’t be needing those later on in the CAL.
We will be using 087 Amazon and 007 Cigar later. Make sure you have enough yarn left in those colors.
